This year at Blessed Trinity Academy, we are thrilled to welcome several new teachers to our staff. One of those teachers is Mrs. Laura Coleman. Mrs. Coleman is not entirely new to BTA as she came to us in January as a long-term substitute for our 5th grade class. In addition to being our 5th grade teacher, she also became our STEM teacher for our primary grades. We were fortunate to bring Mrs. Coleman on as a full time staff member this year. Lets learn more about Mrs. Coleman!
What is your biggest hope for your students this year?
I want my students to leave 5th grade having discovered the joy found in reading. I want them to choose reading for pleasure and carry that practice with them through their lives.
Are you originally from Pittsburgh? If so, where did you grow up? If not, where are you originally from?
Yes, I grew up in Ross Township, where I still live today. I graduated from North Hills School District and Duquesne University. While I did move away for a few years after college, I was very happy to return to Pittsburgh to raise my family.
If you were not a teacher, what career would you choose?
If I wasn’t a teacher, I’d want to do something creative like floral design or interior design.
What is your favorite novel and why?
I can’t choose just one!
If you could travel to any country in the world, where would you go and why?
I would travel back to Italy. I first fell in love with Italy during a study abroad in college. I love the food, the culture, the language, and scenery. It’s my goal to retire there someday!
Why do you like working in a Catholic school?
I appreciate the tight knit community of a Catholic school and the shared values.
What is your favorite Bible story or Bible verse?
1 Corinthians 16:14 – Your every act should be done with love.
